Empowering Women Detainees Through Baking
The Bakery Program empowers women detainees with valuable baking skills. Starting with loaves of bread baked in 44-gallon drums, the program has flourished to include commercial bakery equipment producing buns, bread, muffins, cookies and other goods sold to the local community.
This program not only boosts morale and strengthens connections between detainees and officers but also fosters personal growth and provides a pathway to income generation for both the prison and the detainees upon their release.
One Tribe Ministries supports the program through advanced baking workshops and food safety training, providing essential equipment, with plans to expand into a dedicated bakery facility to further transform the PNG community and individual lives.
