Unlocking Potential Through Literacy Training
One Tribe Ministries (OTM), in close partnership with Acts1:8 Project, delivers a transformative literacy program tailored to Pacific Island communities’ unique culture, learning strengths, and multilingual backgrounds.
Recognising that literacy is the foundation for all other upskill programs OTM offers, this two-week intensive helps participants achieve a functional reading level.
OTM’s commitment to addressing vision challenges is further demonstrated through our partnership with Lions Club Australia. Together, we distribute reading glasses to participants through our global Open Eyes Network.
Additionally, OTM partners with Books4PNG Kids and PNG Recyclers to distribute reading materials, ensuring that both adults and children have access to resources that promote continued learning.
Watch a video of Philip, a detainee in Papua New Guinea, discussing his plans for when he is released from prison. He wants to use his newly acquired literacy skills to read to his children and teach them how to read.
By addressing the essential needs of vision and literacy, OTM and Acts1:8 empower detainees, unlocking opportunities for skills training, employment, and meaningful reintegration into their communities, thereby creating a positive impact on the community.
